On Monday June 13th, at about 8:00 p.m., Police responded to a report on St. Vincent Street. Upon arrival, they observed Robert Michael Coote, a 31-year-old Belizean Fisherman of Dangriga Town, on the ground with apparent gunshot injuries to his body. Initial investigation revealed that at about 7:45 p.m., Coote was standing in front of an establishment when he was approached by a male person who fired several shots in his direction, which resulted in his injuries. Police say that Coote received as many as 9 gunshots to his chest, arm, pelvis area, and legs. Coote was transferred to the Southern Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police have since detained a 17-year-old person pending investigation who allegedly had a 9mm Luger brand pistol, suspected of being the murder weapon, in his possession.
